Licensed psychologists have graduate degrees (Masters or Doctoral) in psychology, and have completed extensive clinical training, supervised practice, and licensing exams. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who have specialized in mental health and mental disorders. For more information about psychologists, psychiatrists and the difference between them, please see the Canadian Psychological Association website.

Please see the Canadian Psychological Association website and the American Psychological Association website for information about how a Psychologist can help.

The duration of therapy depends on the nature of your concerns and your goals. In general, 6-12 sessions are recommended, although in some circumstances, a longer time spent in therapy is warranted. Depending on the situation, some benefit may be obtained in 3-6 sessions.

Anyone can call the office to request an appointment for themselves or their child.  You do not need a referral from a doctor.   Simply call our office or submit a request through our website.

We work on a fee-for-service basis, and our fees vary depending on the service that is provided. Please contact us directly (by phone or email) for information about our current fees. Clients are invoiced after each session. We accept payment by VISA, Mastercard, or e-transfer.

While psychological services are not covered by OHIP, they are often covered by private insurance plans, work benefits packages or employee assistance programs.  Most plans provide some coverage for services that are delivered by a psychologist, psychological associate, or psychotherapist. It is important to note that our office does not bill insurance companies directly. Clients pay for services and then seek reimbursement from their insurance company.

Different insurance plans offer different types and amounts of coverage.
It is important to check with your insurance company in advance, to find
out what they will pay for. For example, coverage may depend on the type
of service that you are receiving, and the type of clinician that you
are working with. You will be provided with a receipt that you can
submit to your insurer to request reimbursement. When insurance plans
provide only limited coverage, receipts may be tax deductible for any
remainder.

Yes.  We offer several funded services:

  1. We offer a Caregiver-Mediated Early Years Program (CMEY) that is funded directly by the Ontario Autism Program. Our CMEY is Project ImPACT; the program is available both in-person and online. If you have a child under the age of 4, with a diagnosis of Autism, and who is registered with the Ontario Autism Program, you may participate in one Caregiver-Mediated Early Years Program per fiscal year (April 1 – March 31) at no charge.  Please check our program-specific website or contact us for more information.

  2. Families that have “Core Clinical Service” funding (for children up to age 18) may use the funds they have been given to pay for ABA therapy at Eastwood Psychologists. Therapy is planned and supervised by licensed psychologists and by behaviour analysts (BCBAs).  We provide a receipt that can be submitted to the OAP following service delivery.

  3. Families that have “Core Clinical Service” funding (for children up to age 18) may also use their funds to pay for mental health services, including psychotherapy and counselling. We provide a receipt that can be submitted to the OAP following service delivery.  Mental health services are delivered by licensed psychologists, psychological associates and psychotherapists.

Not sure whether your child needs ABA or Mental Health Services?  Contact us for more information.

An important note about Core Clinical Services: It is important to note that families first receive their allotted funding from the OAP, and then they may purchase eligible therapies for their child.  The OAP will not reimburse families for services that they previously paid for out of pocket.
